Set in the aftermath of the 1960’s Cultural Revolution, an erudite John Lithgow makes his feature film debut as a Harvard-educated campus drug dealer. Harvard graduate Robert F. Lyons involves his girlfriend–played by Barbara Hershey, who embodies the iconic 1960s California ‘flower child’—in a treacherous and ill-fated plan to smuggle 40 ‘brick bags’ of marijuana on a flight from Berkeley, CA to Boston. Based on the novel by Michael Crichton and his brother, Douglas (under the pseudonym “Michael Douglas”), which was first published in 1970 and then serialized in the December 1970, January 1971 and February 1971 issues of Playboy magazine.
