Generational disputes between the family patriarch, Gideon (Paul Butler), his wife Suzie (Mary Alice) and their two married sons, Junior (Carl Lumbly) and Babe Brother (Richard Brooks) become amplified when an unexpected visitor drops in. Enter Harry (Danny Glover), a smiling charmer from the old days in the Deep South and a bona fide trickster who serves as a catalyst to explore the conflicting beliefs of this middle-class black family.
