Two young brothers, Chris (Jamie Bell) and Tim (Devon Alan), go on the run through the southern states of the U.S. after their uncle, Deel (Josh Lucas), returns from years in jail and murders their father (Dermot Mulroney). Having witnessed the killing, the two boys manage to escape with a fortune in old Mexican coins leaving behind the murder weapon—Chris’ own knife—covered in his father’s blood. Chased by both Deel and the Police, who now suspect Chris of the murder, the two brothers must evade capture and find a way to heal their broken family.

TRIVIA
Devon Alan's ('Tim') monologue about chiggers was not in the script and was totally improvised by the 11 year old. There were many injuries acquired on the set. Both Josh Lucas and Dermot Mulroney broke ribs during fight scenes between each other, and Jamie Bell stepped on a nail and had to walk on crutches for days.
